4-H is one of the largest youth organizations in the United States with more than 7 million participants from ages 5 through 18. It is a community of young people across America who are learning leadership, citizenship and life skills, having fun, exploring and discovering, making new friends and developing new skills, to become tomorrows’ leaders to help shape their communities. The organization’s brand is green four-leaf clover with an H on each leaf that represent Head, Heart, Hands and Health.
Our programs provide youth the opportunity to explore an array of personal interests – from photography to computers and from building rockets to raising animals. 4-Hers attend district retreats, camps and state and national conferences. They have opportunities to learn life skills such as public speaking, decision-making, organizational and planning, leadership, teamwork, record keeping and communication skills.
4-H Clubs meet regularly with adult volunteers or staff for a long-term, progressive series of educational experiences. There focus is to provide positive youth development opportunities that meet the needs of young people so they may experience belonging, mastery, independence and generosity – the Essential Elements.
Membership is FREE and is open to all without regard to race, color, creed, religion, national origin, sex, marital status, disability or public assistance. There are no uniform requirements and club expenses and overall expenses are minimal.
With more than 10,000 established 4-H programs across North Carolina, youth can be a part of 4-H wherever they live through community or project clubs, special interest programs, school enrichment programs and after school programs.

If you are interested in any of the Nash County 4-H clubs, please contact one of the volunteer leaders listed by email or telephone for complete details, meeting dates, time and location. Ages for clubs are 5 years(by January 1st) to 18 years unless otherwise specified. Nash County 4-H club year operates from January through December. New enrollment begins January 1st of each year.
BRIDLE and HALTERS
Club Focus: Dairy, livestock, variety. Ages 5-18
Since 2009, this club has focused on dairy production, raising and showing dairy cattle. The club also participates in a variety of other activities, community service and citizenship projects. Usually meet monthly.

CLOVER BAKERY
Club Focus: Cooking Ages 5-18
Since 2003, this club gives members hands on experience with cooking a variety of recipes. Usually meet the second Tuesday of each month.

EXCHANGE CLUB
Club Focus: Teens exchange with other states. 2 year commitment. Ages 14-18
Since 2001, this club offers teens the chance to learn about life and the 4-H program in other parts of the country first hand. The exchange occurs over a two-year period with each county hosting and traveling on alternate years.
Recruiting is currently open for the 2026-2027 years

FAITHFUL CLOVERS
Club Focus: Students of Faith Christian School/Community-School Enrichment Since 2024, this club has offered a variety of opportunities. Periodically has guest speakers on different topics. Each monthly meeting is different depending on the interest of the club members. This club is for Faith Christian Students- grade levels will be added as needed. Grades 4-6th is the focus at this time unless a sibling would like to participate.

FEATHERS N FUR
Club Focus: Companion Animals Ages 5-18
Since 2016, this club has focused on various small companion animals, how to care for them and the impact they have on our lives. This club periodically features guest speakers, trips, citizenship projects and presentation opportunities.

A LITTLE BIT OF EVERYTHING
Club Focus: Community Ages 5-18
Since 2019, this community 4-H club has focused on a variety of projects decided on by members and volunteer leaders. Usually meet third Sunday each month at 3 p.m.

LUCKY SPURS
Club Focus: Horses Ages 5-18 Since 1985, members have learned proper horse care, knowledge of horses and learned ways to become a better horseman. Members can compete in Hippology and Horse Judging opportunities. Riding lessons are not included.

Club Focus: Livestock Projects Ages 5 – 18
Since 2007, members have learned about livestock, tools used to work with livestock, various breeds, different meats and the proper feed, vitamins and minerals! Learn showmanship, grooming and best animal practices. Usually meet the first Sunday of each month. Normally no meetings August through September.

SEW WHAT
Club Focus: Sewing Ages 8 – 18
Since 2014, members have learned the basics of sewing, complete sewing projects and can continue through intermediate and advanced levels of sewing.

SHARPSHOOTERS
Club Focus: Firearm Proficiency Ages 8 – 18
Since 2007, this clubs has promoted the highest standards of safety, sportsmanship and ethical behavior to build character and willingness to assume responsibility. Members receive instruction in firearms safety and marksmanship. The shooting disciplines include archery, pistol, rifle and shotgun. This club requires annual enrollment in January. Because of specific guidelines, this club requires annual enrollment no later than January 31st each year. Usually meets the third Sunday of each month. Summer meetings are on Monday evenings.

TEEN CLOVERS
Club Focus: Teen Leadership/Community Service/Citizenship Ages 13-18 Since 2021, teens in this club learn to be great leaders and are involved in many community service projects throughout the year. Members attend citizenship events, tours and field trips to gain knowledge in different areas of their interest. Teens are often used as leaders at 4-H events scheduled throughout the year. Usually meet monthly except summer months.

THE RESISTANCE
Club Focus: Electricity Ages 10-18 Since 2024, members in this club have learned fundamentals of electricity, circuits, basic soldering techniques, mechanical engineering and many life skills learned while participating in this club. Youth will gain knowledge in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Usually meets the fourth Monday of each month.
