Tips for Shopping at Farmers Markets Amidst COVID-19
This regional farmers market provides area farmers with a storefront for retail sales of their products. Here local farmers sell products they actually produce. This market philosophy is consistent with long term economic development and preservation of our local farming community.
This market is not just a building. It’s the dynamic activity of all of the people involved in growing, harvesting, buying, selling and sometimes socializing. Shoppers come to enjoy the farmers market experience.
Seasonal Availability The market operating schedule reflects seasonal availability of locally produced agricultural products. Emphasis is given to the quality and uniqueness of products and the personalities of our local farmers.
In addition to its educational role, the Nash County office of N.C. Cooperative Extension has been trusted with the development and management of this regional farmers market. Construction began in 2004 and expanded in 2008 as a result of generous grants from N.C. Tobacco Trust Fund Commission and Nash County leaders’ vision and commitment.
Farmer’s Market is open on Saturdays from April through November. They are also open on Tuesday afternoons during the summer months.

History
Opening in April 2005, the farmers market provides area farmers a facility for retail sales of their products. This market permits farmers to sell products which they actually produce. This encourages local farmers to increase their production. This market philosophy is consistent with long term economic development and preservation of our local farming community.
As a result of its dependence upon locally grown products, the market operating schedule reflects the seasonal availability of agricultural products. Emphasis is given to the quality and uniqueness of products. As this relatively new market grows toward maturity, a gradually increasing number of participating farmers, product volume and product variety are expected.
Many think of this farmers market as nice, new buildings in an excellent location. While all of this is true, The farmers market is actually the dynamic activity of all of the people involved in growing, harvesting, selling, buying and sometimes just coming to visit.
