Planning for an Emergency Made Simple

It is important to plan for weather-related and other emergencies before they happen. Three of the easiest things a family can do is:

Create an emergency plan
Put together an emergency kit
Create a family emergency communication plan

An emergency kit is important when it comes to preparing

for possible emergencies. Many people already have items in their home that can help make creating a kit easy! Other items are low-cost and can be collected over a period of time to fit your budget.

It's important that families create an emergency plan, including how to evacuate, if needed. It's also important to know how to contact each other if separated during an emergency. For more information on creating an emergency plan visit: Ready.gov
