What is 4-H?
4-H is the Cooperative Extension System’s dynamic and educational program for youth. 4-H has about 6 million youth members across the United States. The name 4-H is summarized as the four-fold development of youth through the Head, Heart, Hands, and Health.
Nash County 4-H . . .
believes in the power of young people. We see that every child has valuable strengths and real influence to improve the world around us. Our programs are grounded in the belief that kids learn best by doing. Through hands-on learning, youth build not only confidence, creativity and curiosity, but also life skills such as leadership and resiliency that will help them thrive today and tomorrow.
Connecting and Joining a 4-H Club
Our 4-H clubs provide positive youth development opportunities that help meet the needs of young people throughout our area. Youth experience belonging, mastery, independence and generosity – the essential elements – and foster educational opportunities tied to the land grant university knowledge base. Clubs meet in a variety of locations (home, community center, churches, etc.) and generally on a monthly basis. Each club is led by an adult staff member, or volunteer, who has completed the screening process and has been trained. Youth officers and leaders are selected to provide leadership to each club.
