2020 Small Farmers of the Year

(Updated: March 5, 2024, 5:38 a.m.)

Small farmers are essential to North Carolina’s thriving $91.8 billion-dollar agricultural sector; they comprise about 80% of all farms in the state. Every year, N.C. A&T State University’s College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences (CAES) celebrates small farmers through the Cooperative Extension Program's Small Farms Week.

Unfortunately, in March the week-long annual event had to be canceled due to COVID-19.  But as you know, this pandemic has not stopped our small farmers from providing needed food and resources to their communities. On September 30, 2020, Extension traveled all over the state to thank them and officially announce the finalist, and name the 2020 Small Farmers of the Year!
