The State 4-H Horse Show was held July 6-10 in Raleigh, NC at the Hunt Horse Complex. Currituck was well represented at the show.

Currituck 4-H’ers competing at the show were Amber Jones, Claire Haislop, Sophie Haislop, Johnny Cox and Isabell Cox. Johnny Cox was champion in EWD division for the second year in a row and Claire Haislop who ages out of 4-H this year ended her 4-H horse career by winning reserve champion in the senior gaming division. All five participants placed top six in all their events with several winning first place honors.

The state horse show offers events for riders in jumping, hunter flat, showmanship, dressage, gaming, western pleasure and ranch horse classes. The State 4-H horse show also offers horse-related artistic expression competition in drawing, painting, photography, sewing, crafts and writing.

Those participating were Karleigh Meads, Megan Armstrong, Poppy Wright, Isabel Cox, Johnny Cox and Elijah Campbell. Elijah won first place in photography; everyone else placed in the top ten in their art division.
