Extension Master Gardener Program
Classes Begin February 17th, 2021
Application Deadline February 15th, 2021
N.C. Cooperative Extension, Nash County Center. will be offering the Master Gardener Training Course beginning on February 17th. This year’s training will be a bit different from years past. We will have a combination of virtual and in person instruction in consideration of COVID-19 safety protocols and best practices. We will be using an online learning platform to present weekly lectures and activities, and supplement those with hands-on demonstration of certain topics such as pruning and propagation.
Many of the online activities can be completed in a self-paced manner.
We believe that this new class structure will be engaging and exciting for our participants, and also provide more flexibility than our traditional training, making the class more available to working adults and those with busy schedules.
The fee for this class is $125 and requires completion of the attached application. Once approved for the class, you will be contacted by the horticulture agent teaching the course with instructions for how to access the online content. Upon completing the training, participants will begin a Master Gardener internship of 40 hours, during which they can participate in volunteer activities including the Nash County Arboretum, the Master Gardener plant sale, wreathmaking workshops, and much more. We currently have over 60 active volunteers who participate in these projects. You’ll be joining a group with a great deal of knowledge and experience, so your learning will continue long after the initial training is complete.
