This program will now be an online virtual program. The class times and dates are the same we will just meet via Facebook Live on the N.C. Cooperative Extension, Nash County Facebook page. You can register through event brite if space fills please just join us at 9 a.m. on Tuesday and Thursday mornings online beginning September 29, 2020.

Making time for exercise can change your life. LIFT (lifelong improvements through fitness together) is for aging adults (everyone) who want to evolve into a more healthy, active lifestyle. The physical activity guidelines state you need 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity every week to get your heart beating and breathing faster and normal.Twice a week you need full body strength training and you need to dedicate time every week to stretch and work on balance. Balance and flexibility will help prevent falls.

LIFT is a group-based strength training program lasting 8 weeks. Participants meet 2 times per week for 1-hour sessions. The classes help improve your strength and mobility, learn about healthy food choices, and most importantly help form a community.

LIFT will be offered beginning September 29, 2020, from 9–10 a.m. The class will meet on Tuesday and Thursday and end on November 19. This class will meet outside in the parking lot of the Nash County Ag Center and will be limited to 20 participants. We will closely monitor all guidelines for outdoor gatherings and if needed this program can transition to a virtual program. Participants will need to bring their own weights if they choose to use weights or you can bring two can food items to use as your weights if you choose to use weights. Participants will complete a fitness assessment prior to the first class and this will be done by appointment only. There is no fee to participate in this program. Register online for the program.
