2018 Summer Host Family Opportunities

HOSTING PERIOD: July 22 to August 18, 2018

Host an International youth from Japan this summer and bring the richness of the world to your home and your community!!

Girls

G1: Age 16 – Interests and Hobbies: playing basketball, playing the piano, listening to music, watching baseball and shopping. Enjoys cooking, acting, singing, taking pictures loves animals. Personality Type: Outgoing and loves to laugh. Swimming Level: Beginner (not a huge fan of swimming)

G2: Age 13 – Interests and Hobbies : shopping, tennis, movies dancing, traveling and being outside. Enjoys photography, cooking, nature, animals, and Math is her favorite subject. Personality Type: Sociable & Cheerful. Swimming Level: Intermediate

G3: Age 13 – Interests and Hobbies : playing outside, basketball, singing, drawing, cooking, and camping. Enjoys trying new foods, watching and playing sports, loves animals and Science is her favorite subject. Personality Type: Outgoing and studious. Swimming Level: Advanced

G4: Age 13 – Interests and Hobbies : playing softball, cooking, writing, Calligraphy, listening to music and knitting. Enjoys trying new foods, movies, watching baseball, animals, camping and Social Studies is her favorite subject. Personality Type: Outgoing and loves to laugh. Swimming Level: Intermediate

G5: Age 13 – Interests and Hobbies : baking, origami, camping, drawing, hair arrangements, and shopping. Enjoys museums, photography, acting, dancing, video games, and watching TV. Personality Type: Outgoing and sociable. Swimming Level: Intermediate

G6: Age 13 – Interests and Hobbies : reading, volleyball, movies, shopping and taking pictures. Enjoys dancing, shopping, watching TV, playing with animals and English is her favorite subject. Personality Type: Tidy and Loves to Laugh. Swimming Level: Intermediate (not a huge fan of swimming)

Boys

B1: Age 13 – Interests and Hobbies: playing the piano, Minecraft, Anime (Pokemon), reading, and writing stories. Enjoys singing and visiting museums, and playing Shogi (Japanese form of chess). Personality Type: Studious. Swimming Level: Intermediate

B2: Age 13 – Interests and Hobbies: playing outside, likes all animals, running, basketball, and playing percussion instruments. Enjoys cooking, reading and watching funny TV shows. Personality Type: Sociable and Cheerful. Swimming Level: Beginner

B3: Age 12 – Interests and Hobbies: playing baseball, swimming, being outside and watching sports. Enjoys movies, animals, hiking, video games and Science is his favorite subject. Personality Type: Considerate & Cheerful. Swimming Level: Advanced

B4: Age 13 – Interests and Hobbies: playing soccer, swimming and playing the piano; video games (especially Mario). Enjoys cooking, watching TV, singing, animals, and science is his favorite subject. Personality Type: Loves to Laugh and Cheerful. Swimming Level: Intermediate

B5: Age 12 – Interests and Hobbies: playing Shogi, fishing, Samurai and frogs. Enjoys photography, museums, camping, hiking, movies, computers, acting, and Science is his favorite subject. Personality Type: Outgoing and Curious. Swimming Level: Intermediate

B6: Age 13 – Interests and Hobbies: acting, photography, cooking, camping, nature, shopping, arts & crafts, . Enjoys cooking, watching TV, singing, animals, and science is his favorite subject. Personality Type: Shy and Considerate. Swimming Level: Advanced

Japanese Delegates:

  • 12-16 years old (most are 12-14) or adult chaperones.
  • Youth have a range of English language abilities, host families should be prepared to communicate imaginatively.

HOST FAMILY REQUIREMENTS

  • You must have a child of the same gender and within 3 years of the hosted youth.
  • Families without children of the appropriate age may host an adult chaperone.
  • No special activities need to be planned, these youth want to experience American culture, make new friends, and improve their English by staying with your family.
