Carolina Farm Stewardship Association (CFSA) is hosting a two-day leadership development workshop in Durham on November 2-3, 2017. The workshop is open to 20 farmers in North and South Carolina and 10 food council members. The workshop is designed to prepare farmers and food council members to serve on local commissions and boards (e.g. Soil and Water Board, FSA County Committee, Farmland Preservation Board, etc.). The workshop will introduce participants to the types of leadership opportunities available in their communities, offer a crash course in the skills they might use on those boards or committees, network them with people who hold or have held those positions, and provide follow up support from CFSA and from other members of the cohort should they choose to run for or be appointed to such a role.

The workshop will take place in Durham on November 2-3. The cost is $80 for CFSA members and $95 for non-members. Application form.

Applications are due September 8, 2017.

If you have questions, comments, are interested in serving on a curriculum development committee, or willing to sponsor a farmer to attend, please contact Rochelle Sparko at rochelle@carolinafarmstewards.org or 919-410-7645.
